Oquage Lake Scott's Family Resort

Oquage Lake Scott's Family Resort

Once familiar to native Oneida, Tuscarora, Lenni Lenape and Mohawk Indian tribes, Oquaga Lake still maintains its allure as a natural, spring-fed gem hidden away in the quiet foothills of the Catskill Mountains, approximately 2000 feet above sea level. Many have come from far and wide to enjoy its refreshing waters, invigorating breezes and lush scenery, heeding an ancient call to return to the simplicity of life.

Scott’s has always considerd the lake to be its number one attraction, as it provides the right mixture of recreation, relaxation and revitalization. At nearly one mile across, three miles around, and 120 feet at its deepest point, Oquaga Lake is the perfect size for just about anything, from a quiet sailboat ride to an energetic waterski session. Should you plan to visit during the peak of the season, our waterfront facilities will help you to make the most of your vacation. You’ll also enjoy a pleasant range of temperatures from day to night, with the lake itself at times reaching above 75 degrees. Choose to come a little later in the season and you’ll experience a combination of cool, crisp days and clear, star-filled nights, and a breathtaking fall foliage with colors so rich and so bold they seem to have been painted to life.

The lake is home to several species of fish including lake trout, pickerel, and both small and largemouth bass. It is also a common resting point for migratory birds, and a variety of wildlife thrives in the surrounding area. For many years, Scott’s Family Resort has been a member of the Oquaga Lake Association, which was created to maintain the overall integrity of the lake. This in turn has allowed Oquaga to be considered one of the cleanest and most beautiful lakes in New York State.
